Paul has occupied the position of a Deputy Mayor and Mayor of his hometown Tarxien for the last twenty years. He also served as the President for the South-East Regional Council over the last nine years.

On a national political level, Paul has sixteen years’ experience as the Labour Party’s secretary, four years as the President of Labour Party’s Local Committee, the coordinator of the Labour Party of Tarxien and a member in the party’s executive committee. 

Internationally he is a member in the Committee of Regions, a Member in the UN Global Compact Cities and a member of European Cities Against Drugs. 

Paul is the Vice President for National Affairs of the Local Councils’ Association.
