Activities
The activities of the Association consist of:

Representing and defending the common interests of local councils before the central government, including proposing new legislation and/or regulations, advising on the local government budget, and dealing with new policy issues;

Proposing improvements to legislation with statements on draft acts and proposals for new acts,

Holding of conferences, expert meetings and statutory meetings;

Assisting local councils in exercising their powers through consultancy, expert and technical assistance, training and qualification programmes, conferences, maintaining databases, and providing advice on procurement issues;

Communications through the Association’s website, enewsletter, publications and manuals for exchange of best practices;
-
Interacting with international organisations, including joint projects financed through the EU, co-operation agreements with other Local Government Associations, and the encouragement of twinning events.
Statutory Meetings
(a) an annual meeting for all Mayors, to be chaired by the Chairman or his delegate;
(b) an annual meeting for all Councilors, excluding Mayors, to be chaired by the Chairman or his delegate;
(c) an annual plenary session of Mayors and Councilors, to be chaired by the Chairman.
The Committee may convene other meetings or plenary sessions as it may deem necessary or whenever requested in writing to do so by half the persons eligible to attend such meetings or plenary sessions.
The three members of the Committee who represent the three regions shall, once a year as close as possible to the annual meetings referred to in regulation 24, individually convene and chair an annual regional meeting of all Mayors and Councilors of their respective region.
The Committee may convene other regional meetings as it may deem necessary or whenever so requested in writing by half the persons eligible to attend such regional meetings.
